Garrison Diversion Awards $483,471 to Recreation Projects

Across the state, new recreation opportunities are under construction and many existing areas will receive a facelift with
support from the Garrison Diversion Conservancy District (Garrison Diversion). Since 1990, Garrison Diversion has facilitated
a Matching Recreation Grant Program, funding recreation projects throughout the 28 member counties. This spring, Garrison
Diversion’s Recreation Committee distributed the largest award to date, as $483,471 was awarded to 18 projects. A wide variety of projects received funding this spring, including playgrounds, trail systems, bathroom facilities, picnic shelters, and much more. Approximately $5.0 million has been awarded to projects within the state since the start of the program.

Garrison Diversion dedicates two-tenths of its one-mill levy to the matching recreation grant program, and the Recreation
Committee meets every spring and fall to consider applications. The next deadline for recreation grant applications is Sept. 1.
Program guidelines and project applications can be found at www.garrisondiversion.org/recreation or by contacting Merri
Mooridian at 701-652-3194 for more information.

Congratulations to the new projects receiving funding! Thank you for your efforts to enhance North Dakota’s recreation
opportunities.
